Lighten Up! Offers a 2-Phase Program:
-
WEIGHT LOSS PROGRAM
- 2 PHASE PROGRAM
- The Program is divided into 2 phases: Phase I(weight loss) is the medically monitored
rapid weight loss phase - complete with information and training in long-term weight
management skills. Phase II(skills) focuses on applying long term weight management and
problem-solving skills in the areas of nutrition, exercise activities, and social challenges.
- Phase I: Weight Loss
- Participants in Phase I choose either a meal replacement program or a modified
VLCD (very low calorie diet) with food - losing 2-5 lbs per week. This includes:
- Weekly medical monitoring with a physician, nurse practitioner, or physician's assistant
- Attending meetings involving: nutrition, activity options, behavior modification skills, and
methods for successful weight loss and weight maintenance
- Periodic laboratory and electrocardiogram tests
- Meeting with personal behavior modification experts as needed
- Phone access to behavioral and medical staff - 24/7
- Phase II: Weight Management Program: "Skills"
- Lighten Up! Inc. specializes in teaching the tools, technique, and skills needed
to maintain weight loss. The skills for keeping it off are straight forward tools and techniques that can be learned. It takes practice - compare weight management to learning any new skill, such as a language, a musical instrument, dancing, cooking, or drawing. It is important to know maintaining weight loss takes
practice. Phase II offers new tools and opportunities to practice these new problem-solving skills with the support of professional staff to guide, support, and find
new solutions. This includes:
- Carefully reintroducing foods when weight loss is complete
- Attending problem-solving sessions to review and practice techniques and skills
to handle everyday and stressful events such as work, family, holidays, and vacations
- Creating weekly weight management goals for nutrition, exercise activity, and use of records
- Professional staff availability for individual needs
